So, hours after we posted the link to hypebeast with the new Beastie Boys x Nas track we got another piece of news about the Boys, but nowhere nearly as good. As lighthearted as these dudes always are (the message starts with a laugh) it really isn’t funny! Adam Yauch has a type of cancer in his parotid gland and he will have to have surgery and radiation treatment starting (probably) next week. He has been told that this type of cancer is fight-able and that he expects all to go smoothly so they can get back on track soon. They are canceling their upcoming shows including All Points West – sorry NY – and pushing back their album release. This message is basically a “personal” apology to all of the fans for the scheduling issue etc.

As a LONG TIME Beastie Boy fan and someone who has a close family member fighting cancer for around 2 years now, all I can say is that my best wishes and prayers are with Adam and his family. I hope the treatment goes well as fighting cancer is so effin difficult in so many ways. Be strong. Be positive. Live long.
